At long last! It is done. I think perhaps knitting up all 400 yards of the orange and blue Araucania cotton has made for rather an XL shrug, as it’s massive and quite heavy now, and I haven’t even blocked it yet.

The yarn was nice to work with, my only complaint is that the blue bled onto my hands while knitting, which makes me nervous about washing it when it’s sure to bleed into the orange. Amy has advised me to use vinegar in the soak to make the dye fix better.

Somehow the bright colours work well; reminds me of the colours of Mexico or South America. Might wear it to England for my cousin’s wedding this summer.

Cast on 110 sts; final product 25” deep by 30” wide, unblocked and unstretched.

Due to changing colours I did the switch from orange back to blue at the end by re-introducing the blue on the RS (row 1) of the lace pattern, then performing the cabling transitional row on the WS (row 2), so I had to reverse all the cabling directions and k1 (c1b k,p, c1f p,k) to make it work out right!

Knit while listening to Georgette Heyer’s “Sylvester” on audiobook. Good book, very well read by the lady.
