In temperature color, make magic ring.

Chain 2 (does not count as any sts), (3 hdc into ring, ch 2) 4 times, join with sl st to first hdc.

Fasten off.

Round 2:
With Bare color, join with ch 1 to any ch 2 space, chain 1 more (chains do not count as any sts), 3 hdc in same ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 hdc in same space, (3 hdc in next ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 hdc in same space), repeat parentheses 2 more times, join with sl st to first hdc.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Round 2 for Join as You Go:
With Bare color, join with ch 1 to any ch 2 space, chain 1 more, 3 hdc in same ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 hdc in same space, 3 hdc in next ch 2 space, ch 1, remove hook from loop and insert hook in bottom right ch 2 space of square above, put loop back on hook, ch 1, 3 hdc in same space, remove hook from loop and insert hook into space between the 2 clusters of 3 hdcs in square above, put loop back on hook, ch 1, 3 hdc in next ch 2 space, ch 1, remove hook from loop and insert hook in bottom left ch 2 space of square above, put loop back on hook, ch 1, 3 hdc in same space, remove hook from loop and insert hook into space between the 2 clusters of 3 hdcs in square to the left, put loop back on hook, ch 1, 3 hdc in next ch 2 space, ch 1, remove hook from loop and insert hook in bottom right ch 2 space in square to the left, put loop back on hook, ch 1, 3 hdc in same space, join with sl st to first hdc.
