Notes

I fell in love with Quince & Co.’s Osprey while knitting my version of the Millwater cowl so I thought I would try Puffin, their bulky yarn. I sort of have mixed feelings about the yarn, but I’m leaning towards disliking it. It pills, attracts blonde hair (HA!), and isn’t overly soft (at least not as soft as I anticipated from the comments). I definitely noticed some thick thin variation to it…the “thin” strands are not pleasant to work with. I’m also not crazy about the felted texture, but I think it looks really great worked up into this cowl. I do however love the color. This hue is my ideal shade of lipstick…red leaning towards pink.

This is a fun, carefree pattern, and the ending result is quite attractive. I followed the mods of others who have used this yarn with this pattern by casting on 56 stitches on my Addi Turbo 13s. At the end of each yarn over row I did one yarn over purl wise before starting my purl round- this kept the join looking nice and uniform. Beyond that, I followed the pattern as written until binding off with Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. This used up every last bit of my skein!
