This project began as a sampler blanket that was my very first project when I started knitting. (I purchased 3200 yards of yarn for my first project!) After knitting on it for over a year, in went into hibernation for a year. I pulled it out again in June 2008 with the intent to finish for Project Spectrum Air.
I decided to take the 25 squares I had already knit, finish off seven more, and make two baby blanket with 16 squares each. This blanket got all the cool Celtic/Viking-esque cable patterns. March 2009 I finally finished knitting all the squares.
I added garter stitch borders (pictures at the top) in April 2009. Final dimensions: 35 inches wide by 34 inches tall.
Gifted to my Scottish-American friend for her new baby on May 3, 2009 - just in time!
