Notes

I’m going to try making matching hats for my brother-in-law and nephew again. I’ve given up on the idea of cables and am going to use my design-in-process, the Citrus Hat, again, this time using a lovely polwarth/silk handspun.

Toddler Hat
CO 72 sts for the toddler size using US 5s on 12/8/2015. Switched to US 6s when I got to the 6x2 ribbing and realized the yarn was too thin for the needles and I needed to go down a size. Ripped and re-cast on with US 4s.

Switched to US 5s for the 6x2 ribbing. When I started the decreases, I found I hat to add an additional plain row between the decrease rows to keep the hat from being too short. Finished 12/12/2015.

Later - added a little i-cord tail to make the toddler hat easy to tell apart from the adult hat. I just cast on three stitches, knit 7 or so rows of i-cord, bound them off, and then sewed it into the hat. I made sure the cast-on part of the i-cord was sewn to the back side of the hat.

23 g of yarn, 64 yards

Daddy Hat
CO 104 sts for adult size using US 4s on 12/14/2015. Also added the additional “plain” rows in between the decreases to keep the length I wanted in this hat. Finished 12/22/2015 - time to spare before the 25th!
