Started with the Fairchild. Since the yarn is much finer, I’m following the instructions for the largest size to account for the difference in gauge.

Dec 2017: Didn’t have enough yarn for the Fairchild pattern to work out so have moved onto the Ishnana pattern working larger instructions to account for the differences in gauge.

I bought some extra skeins of a different dyelot and used them for all the ribbing on the sweater as I wasn’t sure I’d have enough yardage. There is a visible difference in the dyelots but it looks like a slight contrast instead of looking like a mistake.

Because my row gauge was different, the body of the sweater was a tad short when I first finished it. As I worked with 2 different dye lots, I was able to take out a row of knitting above the bottom ribbing and separate it from the sweater body. I then worked another cable repeat on top of the ribbing and grafted the two pieces back together.

The cable repeat does start with a variation of the pattern and builds up the “open” portions but I decided to add in a “normal” cable section repeat. Without having pattern photos to compare it to, it isn’t noticeable.

It took a bit of work to graft over the whole cable repeats, but with going backwards and forwards a bit, I was able to make it work out and it looks quite good.

I still have to put on buttons and take some proper pictures of the finished sweater.
