Knitting at a slightly tighter gauge than called for, but still following the pattern as written except for 7 st nupps. Nupps are fine as long as I remember to knit them really loose.

Addi Lace needles are the best; not too slippery with my alpaca yarn, and the long, narrow tips are the only thing that will pick up all of those gathered stitches and nupps.

Counting obsessively on the wrong-side rows is a must.
