Note on making the roof and door:

I slipped the first stitch purlwise when knitting the straight garter rows. This made the edges look straighter (to me). Plus, it made the sewing easier to deal with.

Also, I used mattress stitch to sew the roof onto the house. (Basically I used the bar between the 1st and 2nd stitch.) This made the roof look so much neater than the suggested whipstitch, again IMHO.

--- Dog ---
I shortened the dog’s body by 1/2 inch because I think a shorter, stubbier dog looked cuter.

I had a heck of a time putting the head on “right.” Best thing I found was to use safety pins and “audition” several positions before you start sewing.

The eyes, nose, mouth took some trial and error. I learned that thin lines made better looking features.

Ears definitely frames the face. They are my favorite part of the dog’s features!

Lastly, I added a collar because 1) responsible dog owners should ALWAYS identify their dog, and 2) it hides my bad sewing job at the neck.

I also made, sew, scrutinized, then removed the spot. I think the collar is enough and the spot added Zero interest to the body.
