Sample knit for YOT
6/14/2016 Both swatches are 20 sts wide by 36 rows; they have been soaked and blocked.
The orange swatch is on size 8 needles and pretty much spot on for width gauge and a couple rows long. The fabric is very drapey and may “grow” due to the cotton content.
The blue swatch is on size 7 needles and about 4 sts short on width, pretty close on length. The smaller needle creates a tighter fabric that highlights the garter stitch but will shorten the shawl width by several inches.
Decided to go with the size 8 needles.
6/15/2016 long tail cast on on size 9 needles; switched to size 8 on row 1
Each row consumes approximately 4 grams of yarn
6/18/2016 Knit in Public Day! Finished the last 4 rows.
Cast off using a Lace cast off on the RS.
(More of a scarf than a shawl.)
7/2017 sample returned from YOT
8/4/2017 gave to PP after machine washing, drying, steamed edges
