12/8/2019 Rainy day at YOT and Claremont Craft Ales. Maridee and I worked up a sample idea using Anzula Squishy 50g skeins -- a color blocked version of Ambah’s Oyster Shawl.
Color order:
- MC1 Saffron (top) Eyelet pattern -- using close to one skein (gold)
- CC1 Fiona Ridged Eyelet (violet)
- MC2 Maiden Eyelet pattern -- using close to one skein (rose pink)
- CC1 Fiona Ridged Eyelet (violet)
- CC1 Fiona Oyster Lace (violet)
Modifications:
- Pattern modified to use Anzula Squishy half skeinettes: 1 skein MC1, 1 skein MC2, 2 skeins CC1
- MC1 work 4.5 eyelet pattern repeats ending on row 12 (182 sts)
- CC1 work rows 21-24 (190 sts)
- MC2 work work 2.5 eyelet patterns starting with row 25 -- continue with rows 2-20, then rows 5-20 and rows 5-8 (270 sts)
- CC1 work row 21-24 two times (286 sts)
- CC1 work oyster lace pattern starting on row 1 of written directions or chart (as written in pattern)
- CC1 work ending edge rows as written
- CC1 picot cast off as written
12/28/2019 still fiddling with the small spindle replacement on my Nancy KnitKnacks Ball Winder and I have not wound any of these half skeins yet. May have to wind a couple balls by hand.
1/2/2020 Okay, bit the bullet and wound two cakes. Still wonky but better than hand winding.
Cast on with saffron and knit thru half the skein.
1/3/2020 finished MC1 Saffron at 4.5 eyelet pattern repeats. (7 grams left)
Ended with row 12 (182 sts)
Worked 4 rows in CC1 Fiona (190 sts)
Started MC2 Maiden in eyelet pattern.
1/4/2020 Finished MC2 Maiden at 2.5 eyelet pattern repeats ending on row 8 (2 grams left) -- would have to play serious yarn chicken to finish two more rows (270 sts)
I am 8 rows short of 286 sts -- tried working rows 21-24 in CC1 Fiona then working rows 3-4 (stst with end increases) before starting Oyster Lace pattern but it did not look right; ripped back to end of row 24. Worked a second repeat of rows 21-24 and it blends well into the Oyster Lace.
So my modification is to work rows 21-24 twice in CC1 Fiona (286 sts)
Started the Oyster Lace pattern at row 1 of the chart. Worked through row 11 of the Oyster Lace pattern.
1/7/2020 finished picot cast off; soaked and blocked
