I think this is a C hook, but it’s really old and not well labeled, so I’m not entirely sure. I picked it because I didn’t have a D hook and it’s smaller than my E hook. It was pretty close on the gauge, so I think it’ll work out fine.

My gauge may have been a little off, because I ended up ripping out my Medium and going down to a small, even though I’m pretty sure my head is bigger than that.

I like this hat, but the brim is a little floppier than I was envisioning/hoping. It’s still cute, but I think I’d like to try another version with less increases on the brim. It’s hard to crochet tightly there, because if you crochet too tightly. you can hardly get into the midbar for the next row. I tried starching it a little, and that helped some, but it’s still a little floppy. I think I’ll still wear it, though.

I braided six strands of yarn together for the band. I think on my next version I want to use a wide ribbon.

Update: I’ve been wearing this around the house and yard and I’m lovin’ it. It’s a really fun warm weather hat!
