Started this on the whim on the train taking Max to see his grandparents. Super easy knit. This pattern set has instructions for three different weights of yarn. Since I started this pretty early in the morning I wasn’t paying attention and knit the DK size for my daughter in a worsted weight yarn. So, the sweater is a bit too big for her but should fit her find this fall when she starts school.
I forgot to make the button holes after the first one. Again, early morning knitting and I wasn’t paying attention. So the first button hole is there but the other buttons are just cosmetic. I had found a cute button set of mismatched buttons at a craft tradshow and they go really well with this heather grey/purple of the Cascade. The neck hole is big enough to pass the sweater over the head without any problems.
I plan to knit small cap sleeves as this will be an early fall sweater. To make the cap sleeves I started the sleeves as noted in the pattern then reduced two stitches until I had two stitches less than what I started with before picking up the initial stitches to makes the sleeves. I started out with 45 stitches, picked up three stitches under the arm and then reduced down to 42 total stitches to make the cap sleeve effect.
Regarding the sizing, it’s big on Alixe. She has on a flowy top underneath and that fills in a bit of the sweater but if she were wearing a long sleep teeshirt it would be too big on her. So, we’ll try it again on this fall but it may be a winter sweater or maybe spring! -- Lesson learned, don’t cast on without having my morning coffee.
