Day 1
So this started when I saw urbangypsy had faved this pattern. I looked it up and was gonna buy it online. But it just so happened that the next day was knitting day and Caroline and Lindsey and Emma were here. Since the sun was shining we went for a walk, after getting some stitches done, and low and behold, there was the magazine in my local newsagent. so excited!!!!

Started with 6 mm hook and after 2 rows I had 29 inches of crochet. Maybe do a tension swatch?

Done. Getting 14 by 12 cm rectangle on a 5 mm hook. Don’t want to go to a smaller hook as the fabric will be to dense. Might do it on the 5mm and reduce the number of patter repeats for length?

Having done swatches and maths, starting with chain of 60 for 57 stitches. That is to her exact measurements, with the anticipation that the cotton is going to stretch.

Eeek! This is zooming along! Don’t want to stop but should really go to bed. I’ll finish this tomorrow.

Day 2
Next day, have been very busy with the little one, but have managed to finish the front and back and stitch it together. Will have to leave the edging the weaving in of ends until tomorrow. I had to guess with the sleeves and my gauge and how many stitches to do for the neck shaping. I left it a tad wide so when I did the neck shaping, I just did two rows of dcs with the dc4tog decreases to bring it in a bit. It looks nice on, but I was hoping it would be longer. I did the whole, “Should I do an extra repeat for length?” thing again and again, and I decided not to since this yarn is 50%ish cotton. It will probably stretch and get longer with wear.

She likes it so far, and is damn lucky I kept working on it, as she pissed me off. You know - being 14. :-)

I am thinking one for me in green?!

Day 3
DONE! So lovely! So happy! Haven’t blocked it yet, as she put it straight on. It’ll get wet eventually. :-)

You know those projects that you love from start to finish? Well, this was one. :-) So lovely! So happy!

PS Made the hat too! http://www.ravelry.com/projects/rainbowweaver/urban-jungl...

2017

She is an ungrateful shit of a teenager. Or so I said after I found this in a charity shop bag when she decided she didn’t actually like it. Grrrrrr Saved it and gave it to my dear friend Caroline.
