Trying this on a US 6. Adding 4 sts to the cast on based on project notes from others. The braid on the bottom appears to curl up so, I’m going to do 1” of k2p2 rib in the MC.

The hat was a bit snug before blocking on my adult male head. Once the superwash grows it’ll be a nice comfy,slightly slouch fit. I”m glad I went down the needle sizes.
