the b/f is going to be spending most of November alternating between Minneapolis and Boise so mentioned a nice ‘plain scarf’ would be great. Our anniversary and his bday are next month so figured I’d best be getting started on the scarf. The ‘plain black socks’ he wants will be started after I’ve finished a couple pair of my own that are currently OTN.
seriously… the man isn’t emo or goth - bit old for that hehe… why must he have plain black?!? It’s a pain to knit pure black but luv luv luv him so…
cast on a few different patterns but nothing felt like quite the right balance between ‘he wants plain’ and ‘i don’t want to be so bored i poke my own eye out with the needle’ so switched to a rib pattern. Advantage - no wrong side and plain enough. Disadvantage - really?! just ribbing.

Have about 6” done and not entirely in love with the density/rigidity but think it should soften up a bit with washing and wearing.
Gauge = 6st per inch, 7.5 rows per inch so it’s a fairly tight fabric.

The scarf doesn’t drape at all, it sort of bends. I’m realizing it’s more my gauge is so tight than anything else. I’m deciding whether to rip and reknit or continue on as is.

Frogged and restarted on sz 10s it’s making a HUGE difference. It’s draping nicely, working out far, far better! Have about 11” done so far.

FINISHED! He said he wanted a scarf three feet long, it blocks to slightly more, but close.
