Notes

My goal was to use the pi shawl premise, but to
choose or modify and align lace stitches so that they
would flow organically from one into another
obscuring the “eyelet” rounds.

The inner rows are lace stitches from various
libraries. The willow leaf lace is from the EZ
anniversary shawl Camping. The border is part of the
edging from the narrow alternative for Elizabeth
Freeman’s Aeolian, which a recharted and merged
with the willow leaves.

Thanks to my sister-in-law atbrenner who got me thinking about Orenberg type lace and to the Finger Lakes TKGA for creating a reason to make a pi shawl.

I merged three repeats of willow leaves into two repeats of the Aeolian border.

I used a 36” #3 needle for all knitting. The #7
needle was only used to bind off. I bound off with
two strands of yarn using a p2tog/p bind off.

The shawl diameter was 40” before blocking, Blocked aggresively and dried it stretched to ~70”.
