Notes

I have always been a great advocate of the sampler rug. Aside from being an excellent teaching tool, the project itself becomes a practical goal-setter.

This rug (afghan) is a collection of stitch patterns ranging from the familiar for the less experienced, to the challenging for the more experienced.

Utilising all the patterns will result in a rug approx 152 cm (60”) square but there is no reason why you can’t choose a selection of favourites (say 30 to 36 squares) for a smaller knee rug – either way, by working your way through the assortment of stitch patterns you are not only increasing your crochet repertoire and inadvertently gathering confidence but you also achieve that wonderful feeling of satisfaction that comes with the accomplishment of a job well done – a functional rug (afghan) to show off to one and all – a beautiful heirloom that can be proudly passed down the generations.

The patterns are in written & diagram (chart) form, use UK & US terminology & have clear colour photos

for this project I used Bendigo Woollen Mills 8 ply
Col A - 1200 grms Sequoia (green)
Col B - 300 grms Cranberry (red)
Col C - 250 grms Burnt Orange (orange)
Col D - 1200 grms Plum (purple)
Col E - 200 grms Ink (navy)
