Improvising a jacket based on Melker’s baby jacket.

CO 48 st.
Row 1-4: Knit
Row 5: Knit, increasing 14 st evenly across the row.
Row 6: Knit 4, purl until 4 st remain, knit 4.
Row 7: Knit

Repeat rows 6 & 7, increasing in the same way as row 5 every 6 rows, until you have 132 st total.

Make 3 button holes where you would like them, like this: On the right side row, knit 2, YO, knit 2 tog.

Knit 21, set 28 st for the arm on a piece of scrap yarn, make 3 new stitches under the arm, knit 34, repeat for the second arm, knit 21.

Continue knitting the body back and forth (without increases) until it measures about 26.5 cms, knit all rounds for 5 rounds, bind off.

Arms: Knit in the round the 28 + 3 stitches, and pick up 2 extra st = 33 in total. Knit until the sleeve measures 9.5 cms under the arm, purl 1 round, decreasing 6 st. Knit 1 round, purl 1 round x 2, bind off.

Finished measurements:
Total length (from the neck down): 28 cms
Width across under the arms, laid flat: 24 cms
Arm length from neck opening: 29 cms
Arm length from arm pit: 11 cms

As I realized I would run out of yarn, I made some stripes with another color (yarn held double as this is sock weight). Tried different combos, but thought the symmetric stripes looked best.
