I liked the look of this washcloth pattern, so I made up my own numbers and knit a couple of similar ones.

Basically, the pattern is this:

Using long-tail cast on, cast on 50 stitches. Work seed stitch for 5 rows.

On 6th row (RS): seed stitch for 1st 5 stitches, then (p1, K5) to last full repeat, then knit to 5 stitches remaining, work seed stitch for last 5 stitches. Work in diagonal pattern as seen in photos to desired length minus 1/2 inch.

Work 5 rows in seed stitch, use sewn bind-off to match cast-on.
