Look what I found at the bottom of my beanstalk when I was making room for lettuces in my veggie bed! (Of course he looks better in real life.)

(Click on the pictures to make them larger, and the legs will be visible, too.)

There was no head, so I knitted a hat to conceal that small detail and to make him seasonal. First I tried it by hand, and it took a long time and came out wrong. Then I cast on a few stitches on the machine, decreased fully fashioned EOR for a few rows, then every 4th row for a few more, then less often, and not at all when it got down to only a few stitches (6, I think). Then cast off and sewed up the back.

The beard is carded wool, the nose is a piece of bread dough carefully wrapped around a pin head. The thick beanstalk is holding the hat up.
