Notes

I was fortunate to come across Gabivarga’s beautiful shawl and was inspired to create my own version. In contacting her, Gabi was gracious enough to get me in contact with the very talented Bucilla who was willing to hand-dye and spin a yarn that reminded me of the beautiful Arizona sunsets where I live. She produced a 100% merino, 2-ply yarn where she succeeded in matching a sunset perfectly as you can see!

I also chose the Freesia pattern, like Gabi’s, as I could keep repeating the pattern until the yarn was gone, not wasting one meter. I did 26 repeats of the lace pattern. I didn’t even realize, until I took the photos, that the lace pattern looks like rays of the sun--how fitting! I couldn’t be happier with the combination of design and the yarn, and now this shawl has become my favorite of all I’ve knitted.
