Notes

I can’t even remember when I started this one, it must be late 2015 or early 2016.
There is a weekly market near my apartment in Milan where I got some quality yarn for a very bargain price. This yarn was in the bag with ISPE label (yarn producer from Padova) and since I knit 2 sweaters with ISPE yarn and vendor assured me it was 100% wool I gladly paid full 12 euro (ha-ha) for 750 gr of yarn. But … once on my needles it didn’t feel right and now I’m sure there’s no more than 25% wool.
I finished both sleeves, attached one and just hated the way it fitted and looked and felt … hated just about everything and it ended in one bag hidden in the closet far from my sight.
5 years later I am forced to stay at home, can’t leave the house or Italy and instead of being in Croatia enjoying wild asparagus season and life in the open air, I decided to make some order in my craft stash and there it was: a sad little bag with abandoned cardigan made with shitty yarn. Thanks to my “mild” OCD that kicked in and makes me finish whatever I started (boring books included) I decided to reknit one sleeve and see if I can make it better. It was better and yesterday evening I sew in sleeves and washed damned thing hoping that I will not mess everything with zipper.

Now that it’s washed and the zipper is on it’s not that bad, not bad at all!
Wash away wonder tape is pure magic …whoever thought of that deserves Nobel, such a great tool! Thanks to that tape I was able to fix the zipper in place and then just pass 2 rows with the sewing machine. What I feared the most was the zipper that creates a wave in front.

The borders of this cardigan were made the same way as I-cord edge on my black cardigan.

About pattern
This is the magazine where is pattern number 17 which I took as a starting point, but heavily modified after finding out that my yarn isn’t drapey enough for that model. That’s why I decided to sew in a zipper and make it look more like a jacket rather than an original drapey cardigan.
The last photo is one with the original model.
