Notes

03/09/2012 -- The yarn arrived today. Can’t wait to get started, but I have to wind the yarn. I should have known it would come in a hank! Oh well, it is what I can afford right now -- and the color is yummy!

03/12/2012 -- I don’ know what is wrong with me. I did the first 20 or so rows with out mishap. But then I have spent the last 2 days knit tink knit tink knit tink. Maybe it is the time change that got me all discombobulated as my father always says! I need to just slow down and breathe.

03/23/2012 -- I have made some progress (but not much) on this project, finally! I ended up tinking back to the beginning of the 2nd chart and beginning over again. I must have not been feeling well last week, because knitting just wasn’t going well on either project that I am working on -- but now it is fine and I am not having problems switching off between both of my current projects. I am now on row 11 of chart 2. Unfortunately I have had to work a lot of hours and have not had too much time to focus on knitting.

04/10/2012 -- I guess I am not a good enough lace knitter yet to switch back and forth between two different patterns, so I finished the other one yesterday and today, I am continuing on this one without any other distractions.

04/11/2012 -- Wow, now I am flying on this project. I guess the secret for me is not to be working on more than one lace project at a time. I have found that there is a certain rhythm to a pattern and that it is too hard to find / maintain if I am doing more than one project. Maybe this will change as I get more experienced in knitting lace, but I am not betting on it. I am on the first repeat of the third chart now.

04/19/2012 -- Just started chart 4. Now this pattern seems really easy to me. I like it when I get into the pattern and “feel” when I make a mistake. It make it so much easier. I am about 40 percent of the way there. This is going to be a really big shawl! Already looks big at 40% completion unblocked.

04/22/2012 -- HALF WAY!!! Just finished the half way mark on the project! I have to say that I feel like this is the never ending shawl. Thankfully I have finally fallen into the rhythm of this pattern. I think that this is going to be a really big shawl. I have not quite used up half of my yarn, which is good as I would not want to run out of this yarn. It was on clearance when I bought it and the color was discontinued. But I will have to get started winding the next ball so that I can knit through the week.

04/26/2012 -- Started Chart 5!

04/28/2012 -- Now with 300 stitches or more per row, it seems to take forever to get through the pattern rows. I love the purl rows as they fly. I purl faster than I knit.

04/29/2012 -- 75%

04/30/2012 -- Beginning chart 6 -- yea!

05/08/2012 -- 95% done -- it is so slow going at this point, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have just a few pattern rows left.

05/11/2012 -- Just knit the last castoff stitch. Tomorrow I will try out my new blocking wires and block it! Yea!!!

I used a US 9 for the castoff as I have had problems in the past with the edge not being stretchy enough.

05/12/2012 -- Blocked out to 74 X 47!
