Notes

This is my very first shawl design and I’m delighted with how it turned out. I thought that after all the shawls that I’ve knit that its about time I made one myself. So here is the first of a trilogy of patterns, past, present and future.

The first, Aylesbury, is named after the place I grew up in and is a triangular shawl, knit from the top down in garter stitch. There are three pattern parts to it, from the top an inverted madeira motif, then old spanish lace with a knitted on traditional scallop edging. There is some every row patterning, but with largish needles and lace weight wool it is simple enough.

It was quite quick to knit up, roughly three days, and the Shetland wool blocks beautifully.

I plan to have this as a free pdf download so please be patient as I write it up and set it all up.
