Notes

I am going to try and replicate the Christmas Stocking in the picture for my hubby’s cousin. I have all 12 of my colours now (nearly an exact match to the original) so have to figure out my stitch count and increases/decreases in the pattern now. Pen, paper & calulator at the ready!

01/07/11 - Started today after a quick stitch count from the original stocking. So far it’s knitting up the same, my tension seems to be good and the colours though not an exact match are pretty good. Shouldn’t take too long to finish.

02/07/11 - Turned the heel last night (couldn’t go to bed until it was done!) ripped it back a few times to get the angle right, but finally got it and very pleased with the result!

04/07/11 - First side done, ends all sewn in and the embroidery completed, yey! Second side started.

05/07/11 - Turning my second heel, should be finished by Wednesday!

08/07/11 - Tah-dah! Finished! I finished the knitting on Wednesday (6th), sewed in all my ends on Thursday (7th) and finally today machine sewed the seams together and added a red velvet ribbon to hang from the fireplace come Christmas.

It was a fun project, nice to knit in front of the tv and the colour changes stopped it from getting too boring! Machine sewing up the seams worked out better than I imagined, it’s sturdy enough now to hold all that Santa can put in it! I hope Sara will be very lucky this December :-)

Stocking weighs 302g using on average 625m of yarn!
