Notes

Cast on last night with 3.75mm needles, the edging so far is very open and lacy and pretty. Should be an interesting knit. It’s written rather than charted instsructions, which I haven’t tackled in a while, and borders in which means the rows will get quicker to knit the further I go through the pattern. I’m looking forward to sitting back and enjoying it!

10/02/11 - I’m now a few row’s into the textured bit. I’ve never encountered ‘pips’ before and I have to say they are strange, like baby nupps but less hassle! They are on both odd and even rows so it’s slowing me down a little, but they are only for a few more rows so I’ll persevere!

02/03/11 - 2 more rows of the pips to go, yippee! I’m used to them now, but I’ll be glad to see them gone, no more counting on the odd rows to slow me down. They do come out really pretty though, as you can see from the photo they are in the shape of a flower. I am almost 3/4 of the way there yaarn wise, but row wise I’m a 1/3 of the way there. If I stick to this project like glue I should see it finished in about 7 days.

07/03/11 - I ran out of yarn at around row 137 (out of 183 I think). E-mailed J&S to see if they can help. I had some Optic White in my stash but it’s a completely different colour, I don’t have the ball bands left either to check the dye lot! Of course this would happen. I really hope J&S can help :-(

08/03/11 - Sandra & sarah in J&S are on the case!!! I hope the extra ball I just bought matches!!!

18/03/11 - Extra yarn arrived today and looks to be a good match, quicker than expected, thankfully! Will hopefully have this finished by tomorrow.

19/03/11 - Was surprisingly easy to rip out the different coloured yarn and re-do the centre and I finished in a few hours. Will block and photograph tomorrow. The new yarn sent was a perfect match so all’s well again!!! Since the pattern was written in 1990 and doesn’t specify yardage or the weight of the skeins used I’m beginning to wonder was it the 28g rather than the 25g balls of cobweb that were initially used. That would explain why I ran out. I don’t think my gauge is that off!
