The pattern is from Cranford Mitts which comes from Barbara Walker Horseshoe pattern

I made a Fleegle heel with a half linen stitch. This increased the depth for a high instep. Alice’s circumference above the ankle bone was several inches more than the instep so I increased the stitches in the pattern from 10 to 11 after finishing heel ie two purl stitches instead if one.

I hope that although the socks might look unusual they will fit her and not be too tight above the ankle.

Also I needed more than one skein and as the yarn is hand dyed there is a slight discrepancy in the colour…. As my hubby said … “They’re just socks… !” ..
