#14 for 2017
Mystery sock with lots of cables! Woot woot! Using very deep stash - I added this yarn to Rav in 2009, but I’d had it for quite a while by then.

CWCO, using 64 sts for ribbing on 3.25mm, changing to 3.0mm needle after about 1/2”. Will go down to 2.75mm before the heel, then finish on 2.5mm. It’s easier going toe-up cuz a stretchy bind off is easier than a stretchy cast on, but some socks have directional patterns.

Oh, no! I was on the next to the last row of chart B1 and discovered I’d dropped a st several rows back. Had to ladder back to fix it before I could start on clue 2.

Took a couple of tries to get the dropped st picked back up cuz, of course, there was a cable cross between drop and top of knitting. Motored thru the Clue 3 and 4 and finished 9-25-17. Had a bad problem with the bind off - the instructions have one bind off top needle to itself and bottom needle to itself and starting with the sole (knit) sts first left a big bumpy “ear” at the end of the bind off when the purl sts were done (on the top of the foot) and I had to pick out the Kitchener and that is never easy. I’m gonna change the bind off to weave top of foot to bottom of foot as is usual.

Ok - finally finished. Turned sock inside out and did a 3-needle bind off on one, then decided to just Kitchener the other sock. I had 10 sts to work with and I think they both look good. Of course, the Kitchenered toe has ears! Maybe they will go away after a couple of washes.

I knit the whole leg on 3.0mm needles and it’s quite snug. I changed down to 2.75 at the heel and continued with the ribbing down the heel, then did a Dutch heel. I shortened the cable pattern on the leg, too, cuz it was too long to fit my ample calves.

The yarn was kinda splity, so I used a cable needle for all the cables. I made some mistakes, and tinking was a challenge cuz of the splitting. The toes were a disaster! I’m hoping they will hold together - I don’t usually wear out my socks at the toes. I loved the pattern down the front with the ribs and cables, but I wasn’t so crazy about the traveling cables on the back of the leg.
