My 2nd test knit for Amy. I have loved her patterns for ages, but budget constraints prevented me from purchasing any of them. Then Noreen tipped me off to the test knit group for Amy’s mosaic designs and I’m hooked!! I see bunches of mosaic cloths in my future.

Fir Sprucing Up - I had envisioned a glowing red tree on deep green background. Well - I did get the dark green background, but the red failed to glow even when I photographed it with a flash. I applied some of the color magic of my photo editing software. In real life, the cloth looks pretty average in the colors I chose. Hrmph!!

I followed the written instructions (I much prefer using charts) and found no errors. I didn’t even find I had knitted in errors! I think I’m getting used to Amy’s method of writing her patterns and I’m reading more carefully.

This time around I did use both the CWCO and the DCBO (double chain bind off). I used a G/4mm hook for the cast on and went down to a US4/3.75mm needle for the bind off. I think I will need to use a smaller needle and hook for the cast on to neaten it up.

I still use KnitCompanion to parse the written instructions so I don’t lose my place. On the Turkey the 2nd time around I worked from the chart and it was very nicely behaved in KC.

About this pattern: gosh, it was a lot of fun! I’m really disappointed that my colors didn’t work as I pictured, but I know when I make more Tree cloths they will look better.
