I intend to knit Shorties this month, but had these socks been full sized they would have met the following challenges. The leg/cuffs were 2-7/8” and the socks counted as full size, so were eligible for prizes.

This yarn, Zimba Top, is quite robust and next time I’ll use a larger needle - at least 2.75mm. Will also give 3.0mm a try.
