Notes

These are written as cuff-down socks but I figured it would be easy enough to turn the pattern upside down. I wanted a bit of lace and these socks have an eyelet pattern.

ARGH!! I turned the heel wrong on both socks! I did a decreasing heel turn instead of a w+t heel turn, so after I “ate” away the gusset sts I had 10 sts less than I needed!! ON BOTH SOCKS! I had to rip back both heels and do them over with the correct heel turns. That used up my knitting time for today. sigh

And I’m not happy with the ladders I’m getting doing the socks TAAT. I get them on both socks on both intersections of the needles. I can get good looking fabric with no ladders when I do one sock at a time, but I think the weight of 2 socks stretches the yarn between the needles, no matter how tight I pull that first stitch. Of course, I’m sure the ladders will adjust themselves after a couple of washes, but it just looks bad for the photos!

Now I’ve redone the heel turns and flaps. Tried on the sock and decided that next pair I will start the gusset inc a bit sooner so I don’t knit the foot so long. The heel turn is behind my heel on these. I’ve been pushing to get these done and my hands are both really bothering me. The next clue for MS9 will be out on Friday, so I think I need to stop knitting until then to see if my hands feel any better.

Finished first sock late Sunday night and switched to the 2nd sock - finished on Monday. I think I’m getting better at JSSBO; still slow, but the top edge is looking better.
