Notes

My daughter loves skulls. This love hasn’t diminished as she grows into adult hood. At 24 years old she loves them more than ever. The challenge has been how to give a knitted skull a modern makeover suitable for an educated and successful young lady.

Thanks to the creative genius of Art Fiend, I am able to bring life to the skulls my daughter loves so much. I’ve stitched this motif into mittens, a winter hat, and, finally, in 2014 a matching scarf to complete the ensemble.

The bulk of this scarf was knit on my Incredible Sweater Machine (which I’ve owned for 20 plus years). I hand knit the motif and transferred it to the machine. I knit approximately 2.5 feet on the machine in straight stockinette and removed it from the machine. I did the same for the other end of the scarf. When both lengths were complete, I grafted them together. This scarf is lined with a soft and warm polar fleece, which makes the scarf able to keep cold at bay and break the wind.
