Notes

What seems like eons ago, I noticed a knitterly notions pattern / kit available from Mary Maxim. I, at the time (early 1990’s), only bought and created the Sewer’s Cardigan.

Recently, I found my Sewer’s Cardigan, which is a little worse for the ware, and wanted to make an updated version. Alas, the pattern had been lost over the years. I was disappointed, but didn’t count myself out.

I contacted Mary Maxim and they had the patterns for both the Sewer’s Cardigan and the Knitter’s Cardigan available for sale. What luck!

I am now casting on the Knitter’s Cardigan and enjoying every stitch as they are forming the path down my own memory lane. I cannot wait to have this one complete!!!

To make construction a breeze I have used a combination of hand knitting and machine knitting. The back and sleeves are miles and miles of stockinette stitch and that is a breeze on my Incredible Sweater Machine. The fronts are a bit more complicated considering the colourwork, the intarsia, and the lace. The scissors and smaller details were added by using duplicate stitch. I also knit the ribbing by hand as it is a cabled ribbing and just seemed easier to accomplish through hand stitching.
