This yarn languished in my stash for quite some time. It finally spoke to me and told me what it wanted to be while I was waiting for a surgery date. I started the knit during this wait. I was not knitting during my recovery and, one year later, am finally back to stitching full force. This WIP was completed during the annual Labour Day Family Fun weekend in 2014. My sister and I stitched and watched Netflix and had a wonderful time together.

I had been struggling with a severely pinched nerve, due to advanced degenerative disc disease. It kept my stitching to a minimum. The damaged discs in my neck caused paralysis and severe pain in my right arm and hand, which it made it very difficult to knit. I am now back to full stitching power.

Merise features a mock cable body with summery lace patterning around the neck and on the sleeves. It is a quick knit that will appeal to many beginning lace knitters and challenging enough to keep the veterans interested in stitching.
