Notes

I love colour work. I love it even more when it is easy as pie. This sweater uses a technique where only one colour is used. The opposite colour stitches are slipped and then knit when the colour changes.

I have substituted a different yarn, Knit Picks Comfy Sport. This yarn differs from the Rowan Calmer (recommended within the pattern) in weight etc. so a change in needle size was called for. The Comfy is super soft and easy care.

TIP: Be sure to check your gauge carefully. Gauge differs between the graphical and vertical patterning sections. I checked both patterns before beginning.

UPDATE (May 16, 2010): I’ve completed approximately 6 inches of the front. It is an easy going knit.

UPDATE (May 17, 2010): Change in plan. I’m not a fan of how the navy / grey/silver are working together. It is a bit masculine for my taste. I’ve switched it up a bit by using a purple / white combination.

I love the purple/white combo much more than the blue/gray combo. The new colour combo adds the level of femininity that the blue/gray lacked. It was a bit stealy for my taste.

UPDATE (May 25, 2010): I’ve completed the front of the pullover. I’m much happier with the colour and yarn than the previous incarnation. I’ve knit to the pattern with no changes. It is expertly written.

UPDATE (May 28, 2010) This project is moving along quickly. Working with one yarn per set of 2 rows is a breeze. This is a very easy way to accomplish 2 colour patterning. The back is nearly complete and then onto the sleeves.
