Finishing:
I wet blocked it but didn’t stretch it out too aggressively. I didn’t want it too, too big. The shawl is gorgeous. It was a tough knit and I learned a lot. I’m sure my MIL will love it.

Unblocked - 21” high at the center x 45” wide
Blocked - 31.5” high at the center x 70.5” wide

March 10 - Finished knitting. Just have to block. I was afraid it was going to be huge on my mother in law, since she’s rather short. But I made the petite size and it looks just about right.

March 4, 2012 - On the last setup row before starting Chart D. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It looks beautiful unblocked so I can’t wait to see it finished.

Feb 4, 2012 - Had to take a mental break from this and do some mindless knitting. I was frustrated after switching to chart c. I was confused about how to follow the charts, what to repeat and so forth. After a a pair of mindless socks, I took another look at the instructions and was off again. I was actually contemplating ripping it all out and making a different shawl. (Progress pictures added)

Dec 14, 2011 - 3 rows from the end of chart 1. Man I can’t wait to start reducing.

Nov 26, 2011 - Cast on yesterday and I’m on row 11. Really slow going at this stage. I can’t wait for it to get smaller.
