Notes

I started with a provisional cast-on and knit the rib for double the length required in the pattern. I then picked up the stitches from the provisional cast-on on a second circular needle, folded the brim with the wrong sides touching, and then knit the stitches from the two needles together. This created a brim with two layers, making it squishy and extra warm for covering the ears.

I liked the decreases at the end. No matter where you were in the pattern when you hit the required length before decreasing, the decreases worked. This was nice because I could make the hat as long as I wanted without worrying about how to manage the decreases. They also look really polished in the finished hat.

Brim: 20 rows (8 cm), folded over to make the brim 4 cm
Body of hat before decreasing: 22 rows

I don’t have size 9 dpns, so when I switched over for the last few rows, I had to use size 8.

If I were to make this again, I might make the brim just a few rows longer to make the hat just a touch longer.
