08.05.2014:

Started today. My plan is to scale it up a bit in order to use all of the wool I have for it. What I do not entirely understand is why they keep claiming this yarn is discontinued. I just bought it two days ago, new and original. At least the colors lilac and black are constantly available over here.

26.05.2014:

So far, I am well into the middle section. This is the modifications I made:

Chart A:

  • 20 repetitions instead of 12

Middle section:

  • using the first garter stitch sections to add another 4 stitches, since the pattern repetitions of chart A gave me only 96 stitches on top, but I needed a multiple of 10, thus 100 stitches
  • using second garter stitch section (after main decorative element in middle section) to readjust number of stitches after stitch count (due to some modifications needed in order to have the center line work out)

Chart B:

  • not done yet, but I should come up with some additional pattern repetition in the chart with no further adjustments

27.05.2014:

Started chart B today, the modification worked out just fine, I am completely in line with the stitch count, yay for me!

05.06.2014:

I was forced to pause since the cable of my needle broke. Replacement just arrived today, I am continuing just now :-)

10.06.2014:

Now, I have 12 rows to go and I am afraid to believe that there’s not enough wool to finish the edg chart with all 32 rows. I am just happy that this piece is modular enough to explicitly state that you can stop the border after any 4 rows. This might well happen. If I bound off today it would already look fabulous, so I take any additional 4 rows as a bonus ^^

11.06.2014:

I guessed right, I had to stop 8 rows before the official end of the pattern. Just finished binding off. Unblocked, this monster already has a wingspan of more than 5 feet…
