“I like the way it looks, but what am I supposed to do with it?”

I know a lot of my fellow knitters feel this way about art yarns. Sometimes I do, sometimes, it gives me this strong “Wannahave!” feeling, but most of the time, I see a certain yarn, and it triggers an immediate association, idea, concept. This is the reason why I want to show some examples of how I deal with these incredibly expensive, but also extremely beautiful pieces of fibre art… trying to shape them into something even more wholesome.

This yarn called “wraith”, inspired by fantasy sources, gave me the immediate inspiration for a simple kerchief I have already knitted once, this time being less a simple piece of decorative accessoire, but more a statement of the role playing character it will be associated with.

You will find out more in the near future.

15.01.2014:

She closed her eyes. The picture would not fade, nor would it go away. So many souls lost to one man’s conceitedness, burnt away with fire. Mundane words would never describe the agony of those who were struck. But what about the split-seconds following the devastation? The underworld was already such a crowded place, full of agonizing souls, or rather what was left of them. The shady, twisted figures, not only hurting, but ready to cause pain in the blink of an eye. Thousands and thousands would be flooding this place, just right now. It was said that those who died with hatred in their heart, fear in their mind, agony in their limbs would turn into wraiths. How many of those could the underworld still bear, during these times of turmoil?

I used up the first skein, and even unblocked, it already looks gorgeous ^^

Blocked, drying and guess what? Less than a yard left.
