Notes

Yarn was a birthday gift from Sue Walter. It is a delight to feel, so soft and resilient. I did a simple square toe but I don’t like it. The heel will be a Fish Lips Kiss Heel instead of the gusset and short row method in the Diagonal Lace Socks pattern.

The lace pattern is easy but I don’t like the idea that the rounds start and finish with purl stitches. With the lace pattern, the socks have plenty of ease. With so much ease, I went down a size in needle and switch to Addi Lace in size 0. To eliminate even more ease, I plan to decrease a stitch on either side of the sole when I finish the heel. This will tighten up the stitches near the short rows and the purl stitch that begins and ends the front rows.

Decreasing the extra purl stitch worked perfectly. The only thing I did that I regret is not calculating my heel stitches correctly. It looks kind of narrow off my foot but it doesn’t seem to make much difference when I wear the socks.

I have a fair amount of yarn left over, a first ever. I generally knit until the yarn is gone.

Later note: After exploring my sock yarn collection, I think this yarn was from a collection of yarn I purchased and the gift from Sue is still waiting for a project.
