Notes

Hooray! She loves it!

Good gracious, this thing nearly ate my soul. But it is done and beautiful and I know the recipient will love it.

Nov 5: ending off 750 ends.

Timeline:
23 August - finishing done
9 August - ninth square done
26 July - eighth square done
12 July - seventh square done
28 June - sixth square done - complete September 10
14 June - fifth square done - complete June 13
31 May - fourth square done - complete June 10
17 May - third square done
3 May - second square done - complete April 27

September 14 - Some more life happened, and an international move got in the way of progress on this blanket. I’m back up and running now and planning to be done by October 15. Can I do it? let’s see.

June 13 - woah, life happened and I got behind, but now i’m back on track to have the fifth square done tomorrow. I’m hoping to get the ending off and grafting done too so I can say I’m really halfway.

May 2 - Ungrafted and regrafted it on the right (correct) side.

April 30 - grafted the right side of the first square to the wrong side of the second square. Oops.

April 27 - done with the second square, hooray! Now i’m doing one of the joining strips on the subway while leaving the more complicated knitting on Celandine for home.

April 22 - completed the first square on Monday, then started the second square.

April 17 - I’m through 2 full corners of the first square, after working on a practice square that will probably get frogged unless I’m way behind. I calculated that I need to finish a square every 2 weeks, more or less, which would leave me a good month for the border and any leftover seaming. So the plan is work on blankie for the first part of each 2 weeks till it’s done, then other projects as i have time.

April 14 - I’m getting a lot better at picking up stitches!! After some experimenting I found that I have to really yank on the yarn to get the split colored squares to not have ginormous holes, but they look good now. I’ve also decided to knit the pickups into the back loops to get the tension as consistent as possible.

April 5 - cast on. I want this to be done in 6 months and thought that was a stretch goal, but it seems to be chugging along pretty fast. Maybe there is hope…
