I loved the look of this pattern and my gauge seemed ok when I swatched it, but when I made it my length turned out much shorter than shown. I also never could wrap my head around how to connect the sleeves to the body as you go, so I ended up making the sleeves separately (modifying the armhole seam edges) and then sewed them in.

I decided rather than ripping everything out and starting again, I would crochet a rectangular piece to add to the bottom to make a longer length cardigan. I used the same stitch pattern as the top, but without decreases or shaping. I made it the same width as the top piece and the same height as the center back.

I then crocheted on a sc crochet waistband, nipping it in at the waistline to gather up the excess fullness, and attached the bottom. I modified the trim around the edges and sewed on a button at the waistband.

The Bernat Cashmere yarn is so soft, I really wish they hadn’t discontinued it. The shape of my modified cardigan is very flattering and I get complements on it whenever I wear it.
