2/24/2020 - I started with the 36” which should have been snug but I’ve tried it on and it’s way too big. Even shaping the waist won’t be enough. Wish I had read more of others’ notes first! Going to frog the whole thing and start over. I’ve checked and my gauge is correct using size 7 needles. I’m going to keep the same needles and go down two sizes. Fingers crossed!

I frogged the whole thing and began knitting up the 32.5” size. The striped part was good, but after I had finished the short rows in MC, it was still way too big in the waist. I tried decreasing along the side seams, but it was too dramatic and still too bunchy along the short row section, so I frogged all of MC and tried again.
This time I continued the decreases (every other row) under the arms (side seams) just as they are in the striped section under the arms, for a total of 5 decreases each side. Knit 1 round. Then I added three decreases to each of the back “seams” (where the increases would have been if I had continued them) for a total of 6 decreases in the back; working them every other round. That is a total of 16 sts decreased. So far I like the fit. Continuing in the round without further shaping.

Finished body and sleeves and finally wove in the ends today. Did not do the split hem.
Trying to decide whether to leave the neckline as-is or add to it.
Sleeves are a little short - noobie mistake, but I think I’ve going to leave them. In all, happy with my decision to go two sizes down. I probably didn’t need to decrease quite so much, but it’s ok.
