Exceeded expectations!

One done. Still too much three colour work - will just not be practical when working a pair of gloves. The addition of a couple of extra stitches to the circumference was a good move but still a touch too long for me. Would like to eliminate some of the horizontal bands and just have three border sections. In order to do this will need to rethink placement of shaping. At the moment it is within black rows - some at least will need to be placed in the round margin/seam.
The cast on is more Estonian than Himilayan but it is lovely and looks like the Warren gloves - I suspect they are a crochet cast on. The addition of the vits is to stabilise the edge and not evident on the original gloves. The cast of is the Estonian lace one and more or less looks like the cast on and is nice and stretchy. It is not quite as crisp looking as the cast on and might be due to how I work the two colours.
The speckle along the round margin is considerably improved on this version. The originals use a white speckle within coloured stitches but that requires a five stitch transition - mine uses just three and works better at this gauge.

Had hoped to work this pair in earth tones but after two false starts gave up for the time being and used the colours of the originals.

Revised pattern for ver 1. Slightly bigger round and a touch shorter.
Eliminated the salt and pepper but kept the horizontal two colour stripes between pattern changes.
Investigating how to achieve the chain look cast on of the originals - settled on the Kihnu Troi cast on - page 42 of Nancy Bush Folk Knitting in Estonia although my feeling is that the originals probably use a crochet cast on - could not seem to achieve this with two colours though. Did try a two colour Chinese waitress cast on which is pretty easy to execute but it had a braid as well as a chain when I did it!
Have added some extra vits at the cast on end as the chain cast on is not enough on its own to stop rolling.
