US 2 for octopus, US 3 for band/hat because I’m bad at switching needle sizes quite honestly.

To make this work for all fingering weight yarn, I used the child band instructions with the adult (21”) hat instructions - so basically picked up more stitches to make it denser with the thinner yarn.
