This was ambiknitrix’s idea.

A piece of advice: when you cast on 1000 stitches and join in the round, check more than three times to be sure you haven’t induced a full twist. Please do not ask how I know, but instead imagine the horror of either re-casting on 1000 stitches or picking up 900 stitches as a lifelineish thing. Yeah.
