I started with a chain of 240 stitches. Each strip of colour (two rows) uses about 45 yards of yarn. At this point, it is about four feet wide.

22 feb 11: I keep asking myself, “why, oh why, did I use that bright lotus colour in this afghan?!” I think that it is all wrong for this scheme. Oh, well.

05 march 11: I haven’t had much time to work on this. I have completed 31 strips of colour, or 63 rows. Although I ordered nearly 4,000 yards of yarn, it seems like it won’t be enough as the blanket is presently less than 20” long.

20 march 11: Not much crocheting going on lately. I have completed 45 strips of colour (90+ rows). The length is just over 25” long.

11 april 11: I am so busy with other projects, but getting in a bit of crocheting time. I have done 77 strips of color, or about 155 rows. I feel quite certain that I have enough yarn to finish off a cozy blanket for two.

24 april 11: The strips of color are done. The afghan, before doing the border, is 54”x51”. I did 96 strips of colour, or 193 rows.

26 april 11: For the border, I did one row of granny stitch , three rows of single crochet, and one row of picot-ish (sc, ch 3 sc) in every other stitch.
