I knitted the 31cm prem. instructions using DK instead of 4ply. Expected a 0-3m size. I followed the length measurements as per the 0-3m size.

The blurb on the pattern page says “… with lace or ribbing around chest…” Note that the lace instructions occur in the section for the round neck cardigan; the non-lace instructions are in the section for the collared cardigan. That didn’t dawn on me until I’d finished the back. Omitting the lace boils down to working 2sts in moss (seed) stitch, 5 in stst , repeat across to last 2 sts, 2sts in moss st. The moss st on RS is k1, p1 and on WS is p1, k1.

Sleeves

• To keep attractive proportions in the sleeves I worked 5 repeats of pattern 1, so 6 in total. (There were times when I had to consider the pattern stitch proportions since I was using prem instructions to knit a larger sized baby garment.)

• Spread my increases out a bit more since I was working a prem size with DK to achieve a 0-3m size.

• Made sure to do enough increases in the sleeves so that the sleeves would, when folded and seamed into the body, have a 10cm armhole. 10cm is pretty standard for a 0-3m size. I increased the sleeves to 44sts.

Collar
On second last row of collar (RS of collar) I worked a series of (kfb, k1) which started and ended about 12sts from each end of row. This was to help the collar fold over well and sit nicely.

Sleeve from underarm 15cm

Snuggly DK’s tend to come in slightly different degrees of softness, maybe dependent on the year they were produced (I have a Snuggly stash stretching way back). This one is extra soft, which is what I wanted for a small baby cardi, and I really love the colour. A nice change from pastel baby blue.
