Notes

I’m both excited and apprehensive about these - I’ve been wanting to try entrelac, and find the perfect project for this yarn, for ages! But will it work out?? Cue dramatic music!

Having got most of the way down the foot of the first of these, I began to get worried that I didn’t have enough yarn for two socks! Because I was doing them for the SKP09 challenge, I’d done 4 repeats on the leg as directed… but I’ve decided not to continue with that challenge any more (no time!) so I’ve stopped just before the toe decrease, put a lifeline in, and started the second sock. I might have to rip the first one back and only have 3 repeats on the leg, but I’ll see how it goes.

I did rip the second sock back to have only 3 repeats on each leg… but still didn’t have enough yarn! So now I have odd toes. :-/ Wouldn’t mind that too much, but unfortunately the only other ‘Emily’ yarn scraps I had (the other sock yarn I have wasn’t the right weight… ‘Emily’ is a fairly heavy sockweight) don’t match the main yarn too well. Still, the toes will be in my shoes and no-one will see them, so never mind!

I found the pattern itself rather unclear, so I ended up muddling through by combining an entrelac scarf tutorial, and some guessing of my own. For example, I found that starting with 1 stitch on the set-up triangles worked much better. And possibly due to not having tried entrelac before, I found the instructions on the direction I should be knitting in very confusing. Got there in the end though!

I never was happy with the ugly toe situation, so I’ve finally redone them with the Hipknits yarn. Much better!
