Notes

August 18th 2010 - I’m pretty happy with how this turned out. For future reference, I cast on 90 stitches, and worked the main portion of the hat straight until i ran out of Mochi for striping. Then i put the top on stitch holders, and picked up along the bottom edge with the pink leftover cascade i had from my cardigan… I decreased about 8 or 9 stitches to compensate for the difference in wool thickness, and knit until i reached the halfway point of my brim (where i knew i wanted it to folder over). Then I increased back to 90 stitches, as well as switched over to larger needles so the brim would naturally want to fold there… then i just kept working in stockingette (so the purl bumps would be on the outside of the brim), and added a white stripe until the brim was as long as I want it. I might still go back and sew edge to the point of the hair where I want to brim to stay put, we’ll see!
Then i tried the hat on, and kept working with white until the hat was tall enough for my head! i closed the top with a row of Kitchener stitch and added tassels on the ends. Ta-da!

August 16th 2010 - Cast on Sunday afternoon after a quick trip to Baaad Anna’s for the white wool! I only had about a 1/3 of a skein of mochi left after i finished the scarf, so i thought i would blend that into a matching hat with some white. I’m just wingin’ it, so i guess we’ll all find out at the same time how its gonna go hahaha
